About the Meetings
We introduce Sahaja
Yoga through a series of topics. Click here for details about
the five-week course.
Each week a different topic is covered, so that
after five weeks a beginner has a good grounding in Sahaja Yoga
theory and practice. Newcomers are always welcome--previous weeks'
notes and information are available each week for anyone who
has missed a topic.
Sahaja Yoga is an inner yoga. The process
of becoming a more relaxed and balanced person requires no physical
or mental effort. Some discipline is required at first to develop
the habit of a daily 5 or 10 minute meditation at home.
We usually begin the evening with a
guided meditation, where everyone in the room enjoys a peaceful
state of silence and calm. The evening includes a video of a
talk by Shri Mataji, the founder of Sahaja Yoga, and a brief
lecture and explanation about one aspect of Sahaja Yoga. Hands-on
demonstrations of Sahaja Yoga allow beginners to master balancing
and cleansing methods.
Our main goal is that everyone can experience
the nurturing flow of their inner energy.

What to bring, what to wear
The meeting takes place in a
beautiful hall with a view of the Hudson River. Wear loose, comfortable
clothing. You can bring a folder to keep your weekly handouts
in, if you like.

The essence of Sahaja Yoga is
enjoyment
In addition to meditating together,
we sometimes express our inner joy through music and dance.
